The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
(M) Sony DVD/BD
The movie that piqued interest in the vampire genre is starting to get a little threadbare at this point. In the lead up to the final two films in this franchise, little has happened in the glacial will-they-or-won’t-they love triangle of Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner). There is brooding and more brooding and the tale of scorned vampire Victoria, who has Bella’s demise in her sights.
So the traditional enemies — vampires and werewolves — band together against Victoria’s newborn vampire army to protect Bella.
Superhuman bouts of abstinence are still evident, which is commendable but there is no real interest for those over 15 in this saga.
Again the Volturi, led by Dakota Fanning, put in a tantalisingly slight appearance, which is a shame because these are the only characters with real bite.
Extras over the two formats are a fans delight, with every titbit imaginable on display.
