George’s River Presbytery Community Action Workshop & Welcome Morning Tea

The Uniting Social Justice Forum has teamed up with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) to help change the conversation around refugees and people seeking asylum through a series of Community Action Workshops. These interactive workshops are an initiative of the ASRC’s #RightTrack Campaign and are designed to equip people with the skills to have positive, values-based conversations about refugees and people seeking asylum with those around them. It is also about teaching people how to avoid reinforcing opposing views and frames of language that largely contribute to the negative perceptions around refugees.

In the 4hr session at Bankstown District Uniting Church, participants will learn about tools, strategies and actions that can help achieve sustainable change in community attitudes to people seeking asylum. This workshop will also include a special ‘Welcome Morning Tea’ for newcomers to the local community and is a great opportunity for members of the Presbytery and beyond to meet them and extend a hand of welcome.

For further information on this session, to register your attendance or to find out how to bring one of these workshops to your local congregation, contact Alex Hogan: ahogan@uniting.org / 0423 503 998 / 02 9407 3230.
