Remarkable seniors celebrated

UnitingCare Ageing has launched its Remarkable Lives campaign across New South Wales and the ACT for Seniors Week, encouraging seniors to celebrate the remarkable in their lives.

“This campaign highlights the contribution our aged care residents and community care clients make in the community,” said UnitingCare Ageing Director Steve Teulan.

“At UnitingCare Ageing, we celebrate every individual and take great pride in our ability to nurture the ‘remarkable’ in everyone who entrusts us with their care.”

New South Wales and ACT Seniors Week, March 18–23, is the largest celebration for seniors in the southern hemisphere and aims to encourage seniors to actively participate in the community.

As the largest aged care provider in New South Wales and the ACT, UnitingCare Ageing provides a wide range of services in the community.

Services include community care services to support people to stay at home, outreach, community education and carer support activities, healthy ageing centres, Men’s Sheds, day centres, a range of respite options, independent living units and other supported housing, and residential aged care.

“Our Inspired Care approach to supporting older people and their families recognises and respects the individuality of each person,” said Mr Teulan.

“Supporting people to live the lives they want to live, while providing quality, individual care when it is needed, means that people can live remarkable lives in their own way.”

The Remarkable campaign will continue throughout the year:

  • March: Remarkable Lives (celebrating Seniors Week);
  • May: Remarkable People (celebrating Volunteer Week);
  • July: Remarkable Care (celebrating staff); and
  • October: Remarkable Together (celebrating carers).
