More Details:
We know that we need sensible, compassionate drug laws and more funding for treatment but it is a challenge to get an open public dialogue happening. One area this has been very noticeable is in the media, for example in comments on news stories about drug law reform.
The idea behind this group is that we mobilise quickly to post comments that open the conversation. The research shows the majority of the community supports treating drug possession as a health issue but that support is drowned out by a barrage of stigmatising comments.
The first step is online training on how to comment effectively. We will cover:
- Core principles of online comments
- How to talk publicly about our issue
- Online safety and trolling
If this is shown to be useful we are looking to expand the training to include calling talk-back radio and other communication methods for engaging in the public debate.
You can register for the training here
Please get in touch if you have any further questions!
