Are we alone in the universe?
The biggest movie at cinemas is The Martian, the out-of-this-world tale of an astronaut (Matt Damon) stranded on Mars. Does it live up to the hype? Our regular reviewing team, The Big Picture, let you know in the punchy video below. Here’s a hint of what’s in store: Scriptwriter Mark loved The Martian but had one big question about it — where is God? Or is The Martian telling us that we are, ultimately, alone in the universe?
Also this week, film reviewer Ben lets us know whether it’s worth dropping by The Visit, a creepy tale of kids staying with their weird grandparents. Among the chills and thrills, Ben takes issue with how The Visit dares to raise forgiveness as an afterthought.
And in honour of The Martian, Mark counts down the Best Survival in Space moments from movie history. Blast off!
