When in Rome
(PG) WDSHE DVD/BD
I’m not sure how it is possible to take a story mostly set in Rome — the most beautiful and romantic city in the world — and make an atrociously unfunny and unromantic comedy.
Written by the scribes who penned the truly awful Old Dogs, this rom-com is so laden with clichés it’s hard to single out just one for criticism.
The leads (Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel) have the requisite chemistry but are hamstrung by bad direction, clunky dialogue and a plot that disallows the audience to care about the proceedings.
Like a loud American tourist, this overstays its welcome.
