Hope is our Song

The New Zealand Hymnbook Trust Inc.

Featuring the Aucklandchamber choir Viva Voce, this CD is a recording of 27 new songs, hymns and carols taken from the 2009 book publication, Hope is our Song.

The songs are suitable for both choral and congregational singing and are quite singable with uncomplicated rhythms. Although several of the songs are specific to Aotearoa New Zealand, others express general aspects of life and help us express our relationship with God and our part in the creation using today’s language. The CD is well balanced between traditional style hymns and more contemporary songs.

Hope is our Song includes some gifted composers and lyricists including Shirley Erena Murray, Colin Gibson, Jillian Bray and Barry Brinson.

A full text of the lyrics of each new hymn and song is included.
