Believe it or not, controversial comedian Russell Brand is playing God.

Porn-free city in Queensland?

A social movement involving Christian leaders is campaigning for the regional city of Toowoomba to be a porn-free zone. While the “A City Free From Porn” movement has close links with prominent Christians in the area (and their beliefs), the campaign to eradicate pornography from Toowoomba is not being undertaken as a religious crusade.

Christian in Pakistan faces death penalty

The most high-profile case of someone charged under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws reached its final appeal this week. Poor and Christian, Asia Bibi was sentenced to death in 2010 after being convicted of insulting the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Bibi’s case was heard this week by Pakistan’s supreme court. Her family has been in hiding for the past few years and Bibi’s husband told The Guardian that if she is acquitted, it still will be impossible for them to return to their previous life.
