Something Borrowed

Another day, another rom-com starring Kate Hudson. Hudson, however, digs her heels in more than usual in Something Borrowed; imbuing shallow, gregarious society girl Darcy with a sympathetic quality.

It’s not hard though, when you consider Darcy’s fiancé Dex (Colin Egglesfield) is getting it on with her best friend Rachel (Ginner Goodwin) behind her back. If two people are, seemingly, better suited to being a couple, should they spit up existing relationships?

This central conundrum leads to sharp and blunted rom-com scenarios, buoyed by the presence of Big Love’s Goodwin and The Office’s John Krasinski. As familiar as its title suggests, Something Borrowed should still make you reflect upon what governs affairs of the heart.
