Small Things with Great Love
Margot Starbuck, Intervarsity Press
A wonderfully down-to-earth book of anecdotes and ideas for loving your neighbour and loving yourself.
The incidents that Starbuck relates are not earth-shattering miracle stories, just ordinary stories about ordinary people who are able to see the Jesus in one another.
At the end of each chapter she offers directions to follow-on from what has just been read.
• Read it through or browse
• Find a subject in the index when in need of counsel
• Read it to help yourself
• Read it to help others
• Read it to help use your basic instincts to love one another as God first loved us.
There is a list of resources, internet based, for helping with what you want to do.
There is a study guide for individual study and group study. There is also a six-week “Adventure Challenge” to help you take the small steps to love one another.
At the beginning of the book Starbuck quotes Mother Teresa: “We cannot do great things, only small things with great love.” This makes the steps to take with this aim immensely achievable.
This is an entirely pleasant and, at times, amusing book to read.
