Minister promises to perform church ceremonies for same-sex civil unions

An Ashgrove (Queensland) Uniting Church minister has promised to perform Christian blessing services for same-sex civil unions.

The Church of England have today issued their formal response to the government’s consultation on same-sex marriage. They had a great opportunity to acknowledge the diversity of views within their own ranks and to move on from the defensive tone that characterises so many Christian contributions to debates over sexuality. It is an opportunity that they have completely missed.

Gay marriage gets ministerial approval

British ministers have pledged to push through legislation to give same-sex couples equal rights to get married despite mounting opposition from within the Conservative party and the threat of a split with the Church of England.

Dispirited

That the idea of being “spiritual, but not religious” is, at the very least, problematic. Mind-body-spirit spirituality is in danger of making us stupid, selfish, and unhappy.
