New host for Open House

During the final Open House show for Sheridan Voysey on Sunday March 27, it was announced that Sky News Reader Leigh Hatcher would be the new show host, beginning Sunday May 1 from 8pm.

It was a bitter-sweet end to an amazing era as Sheridan Voysey, creator and host of Open House, was farewelled with a live show party with guests including singer-songwriter Andy Sorenson, The Gruen Transfer’s Jon Casimir, and YouTube sensations Jayesslee.

The sweet ending came with the announcement of the new host — Leigh Hatcher.

Veteran journalist and broadcaster, Leigh Hatcher has had an extensive career in radio and television and has for the past ten years worked as a presenter at Sky News Australia.

On his new appointment Leigh says, “Though most of my career has been in television, radio has always been my first love and so much of my life, faith and work for nearly four decades will culminate in this amazing opportunity to host Open House.”

The first Open House show aired on two stations: Sydney’s Hope 103.2 and Melbourne’s 89.9 Light FM.

Today Open House airs on eight stations, feature interviews are replayed on another national network of over 400 stations, and around 100,000 people listen in each week. The iTunes podcast is frequently in the top 10 for the Religion and Spirituality category, the program has produced three best-selling books and, most of all, there are regular reports of lives being changed by the show.

Leigh replaces the founder of Open House, Sheridan Voysey, who is heading overseas to live.
