The Essential Aled Jones

The Essential Aled Jones

Aled Jones

Aled Jones MBE is one of the most recognisable and well-loved figures in classical music.

As a boy chorister, his pure treble voice captured the hearts and imaginations of Welsh church congregations before he shot to international prominence. And then he disappeared from the public eye. The problem was, as is so often the case, hormones. For unlike that other famous Welsh angel, Charlotte Church, Aled had to overcome the adolescent problem of the broken voice. Through training and other pursuits, he never lost his passion for singing and emerged again in 2002 with an album deal with Universal and retrained as a tenor.

Since becoming a tenor his career has continued to rise, leading to frequent best-selling recordings and numerous television appearances as host of that staple of UKTV — Escape To The Country.

An acclaimed stage performer, having starred in the role Dick Van Dyke made famous in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on the West End, he is one of Britain’s most recognisable and busy performers. With 29 albums that have sold over six million copies to date, this new two-CD album brings together the best of Aled Jones for the first time for fans of his music.

Among the many hits you will recognise his renditions of “You Raise Me Up”, “Pie Jesu”, “Ave Maria”, “O for the Wings of a Dove” and “I’ll Walk Beside You”, making this one of the most definitive collections of his resume to date.
