The Moderator’s Easter Message: Renewed faith in the risen Christ

Moderator’s 2015 Easter Message from UCA Synod of NSW & ACT on Vimeo.

In her 2015 Easter message, the Moderator of the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of New South Wales and the ACT, The Rev. Myung Hwa Park calls for renewed faith in the risen Christ.

The Easter story tells us good news that on the third day Mary Magdalene and other disciples found the empty tomb. Jesus was no longer with the dead.

Jesus’ empty tomb is one of the most vivid signs of the central message of Easter.

The absence of Jesus’ body frightened Mary Magdalene and the other disciples. Despite Jesus’ predictions, they did not expect to find the empty tomb.

Even today, many Christians live as though they expect to find the body of Jesus in the tomb rather than going out to find the risen Christ.

The spirit of Easter calls us to ‘move out of the tomb’, and live a new life with the risen Lord.

Today, the empty tomb remains a godly reminder of a transforming spirit which invites us to move beyond death and despair to the hope of resurrection and new life.

As Christians should we should not be frightened or lost like those finding the empty tomb but ‘move out of the tomb’ with renewed faith in the risen Christ.

On behalf of the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of New South Wales and the ACT, I invite all Christians to take a courageous step forward in faith and hope, to live a renewed relationship with God — for the good of all creation.
