Operation Santa: UnitingCare Christmas Appeal
With Christmas around the corner UnitingCare NSW.ACT is once again partnering with Target to launch the UnitingCare Christmas Appeal: Operation Santa.
Now in its 21st year, the annual Christmas appeal assists children, teenagers and adults across New South Wales and the ACT who would not otherwise receive a gift.
An estimated 2.2 million Australians live in poverty, including half a million children.
Thousands of people request support services from UnitingCare agencies each day and demand always spikes around Christmas. Rising living costs have led to an unprecedented need for support this Christmas from low-income households.
Thanks to the generosity of Australians, 81,000 gifts and $150,000 in gift cards were donated and distributed last year. This Christmas, Operation Santa aims to collect 100,000 gifts and $200,000 worth of gift cards — and reach 60,000 families nationwide.
In New South Wales and the ACT the goal is 30,000 gifts and $60,000 worth of gift cards, while assisting 20,000 families.
To donate, visit your local Target or Target Country store and leave an unwrapped gift, or purchase a gift voucher to leave under the red giving tree.
