Gladstone celebrates 90 years

The Gladstone Congregation of the Uniting Church, serving the twin towns of Gladstone (a small town on the southern bank of the Macleay River) and Smithtown (a similarly-sized town on the northern bank), will celebrate 90 years on October 30.

Gladstone is situated midway between Kempsey and South West Rocks. It is part of a group of congregations known collectively as The Lower Macleay River Group that, as well as Gladstone, includes the South West Rocks and Yarrahapinni congregations.

The three congregations share the Rev. Lindsay Sheppard as their minister in placement.

The Gladstone Congregation has served the people of the region for over 100 years.

The church is located on the corner of Darkwater and Kinchela Streets, Gladstone, and services are held each Sunday at 10 am. A “Treasure and Trash” market is held on the fourth Saturday of each month on the church grounds.
