Wesley Mission is celebrating 203 years at its Mission Anniversary Service in the Wesley Theatre.

The thanksgiving service will celebrate more than two centuries of Wesley Mission’s vital work in the community.

“Given everything we have been able to accomplish in the past 203 years and the hope we have given people even while facing increasingly difficult circumstances in our sector, this will be an important opportunity to thank God and acknowledge that He is at the centre of everything we do,” Wesley Mission Superintendent the Rev Dr Keith Garner said.

“Ours is a distinctive story of faith: we have been on the cutting edge of delivering services to some of the most marginalised in our community while retaining a clear Christian purpose.

“There is no need to look far to see how the skills and experience we have been blessed with are making a difference.

“Daily we see the vital role Wesley Mission plays in supporting those in need. In the recent floods in New South Wales, for example, Wesley Mission Newcastle opened its doors to provide very practical assistance to those in the Hunter suffering from the devastation. We are seeing many encouraging areas of growth across many of our services.

“We invite all members of the Uniting Church and the broader Christian community to come together in worship and praise.”

Staff members, special music and other contributions by Mark Scott AO and Dr Keith Suter will be part of this service as well as an address by the Wesley Mission Superintendent the Rev Dr Keith Garner.
