More Details:

Stepping On is a community based, 7 week program conducted in association with the Western Sydney and Nepean – Blue Mountains Local Health Districts. The program covers many facets of falls prevention over the seven sessions. It aims to teach people about the seriousness and consequences of falls, how to improve their strength and balance, how to identify and modify hazards to reduce the risk of falling.

A qualified rehabilitation specialist (congregational member, Mrs Ann Kumar) co-ordinates the program with local health practitioners and invited guests visiting the sessions in the program over the seven weeks.

The program is available to anyone who is aged 65 or older, living in their own home and able to walk independently or with a stick. If you are fearful of falling or recently involved in a fall, then this is the program for you. It is an essential underpinning to have a sense of control over managing the risk of falling. The program looks at improving confidence to maximise independence at home and in the community.

However, the program is not suitable for people with dementia or neuromuscular conditions. Each week’s program runs for 2 hours.

Free and open to all within the community.

Morning Tea is provided
