The Canberra Drug Policy Series aims to discuss the country’s illicit drugs policy.
This latest series will feature author of Chasing the Scream, Johann Hari.
Hari argues that the ‘war on drugs’ is not only failing but exacerbating the crisis of addiction in our society.
The series is organised by the Uniting Church Synod of NSW and the ACT, Uniting, ATODA (Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Association) and the ANU’s College of Arts and Social Science.
In 2016, the Synod passed a resolution that called on governments to invest in demand and harm reduction practices for drug users, as well as further decriminalisation of personal drug use. This resolution is the basis of Uniting’s ongoing Drug Law Reform campaign.
You can watch the live stream of this sell-out event at Uniting’s Facebook Page on Wednesday 19 September at 8pm.
