Finding a better way for people seeking asylum

The President of the Uniting Church Stuart McMillan has joined with others to call our political leaders to find alternative policies for refugees and people seeking asylum.

The Social Justice Forum of the Synod of NSW and the ACT invites you join the call to our political leaders to find alternative policies for refugees and people seeking asylum. There are two exciting ways to get involved on the 27th November, these are:

  1. As part of the Give Hope: Uniting for Asylum seekers campaign, members of Uniting Church congregations and their communities are invited to attend a special service at 3pm on 27th November at Pitt Street Uniting. The service will express both lament, at our countries treatment of people seeking asylum, and hope that together we will find a better way.
  1. Your own Uniting Church congregation can be a part of this event by taking part in a supportive symbolic action in your own services or gatherings on that day. This will involve members holding up “We can do better” signs, posting the photos on social media, and sending their own message for change to their local Federal Member of Parliament.

Resources and more detailed information on how Uniting Church congregations and their communities can be involved in both events will be distributed next week.
