More Details:
The 55th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations designated 21 September as International Day of Peace.
The ‘Peace Bell’ at the United Nations Building in New York is rung on this day each year at 12 noon, and churches and schools are encouraged to ring bells at midday on 21 September to draw attention to the need for world peace.
To mark this special day, Parramatta Mission is organising an Interfaith Prayer Service at their Fellowship Centre Hall (next to the historic Leigh Memorial Uniting Church).
Representatives of Aboriginal, Bahai, Brahmakumari, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jain, Jewish, Mandaean, Sikh, Sufi and Zoroastrian Communities will offer prayers for peace, and there will be time for silent reflection.
Individuals and groups will provide cultural items and the occasional address will be given by Chief Rabbi Dr. Benjamin Elton.
Refreshments will follow the service.
Everyone is welcome.
