The Uniting Church in Australia Celebrates its 37th Anniversary of Union

The Uniting Church in Australia Celebrates its 37th Anniversary of Union with a Multicultural Worship Service in Sydney’s CBD

An Ecumenical Multicultural Service of Thanksgiving will be held in Sydney’s CBD on Sunday 22 June, to commemorate and celebrate the Uniting Church in Australia’s 37th Anniversary of Union.

The Service will commence at 6.30 pm at Sydney Town Hall, George Street, Sydney. It is open to members of the public. Uniting Church Congregations from across Sydney will attend the Service. Attendees should be seated by 6.00 pm.

The Moderator of the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of New South Wales and the ACT, the Rev. Dr Brian Brown will preside over the service with Elders from Uniting Aboriginal Island Christian Congress.
Choirs and bands from different cultural backgrounds and denominations will participate in the Service including, the Fiji Parish Choir, the Korean Presbytery Choir, the Tonga Parish Choir, Cabramatta Vietnamese Choir, Youth Choirs from Mascot, Fairfield and Auburn, the MLC School orchestra, the Knox Grammar School pipe band and The Salvation Army Hurstville Band. This Multicultural Service is part of the recent inaugural Uniting Multicultural festival, which featured a celebration of music, dance and food at the Uniting Church Centre for Ministry in North Parramatta.

The Uniting Church in Australia was inaugurated at the Sydney Town Hall on 22 June 1977.
