Sydney leaders join to pray for Paris

The wave of terrorist attacks in Paris shortly after 9pm on Friday 13 November has again caused an outpouring of grief as the world mourns these senseless acts. Not yet a year since the tragic Charlie Hebdo shootings on 7 January, Paris was rocked by a series of shootings and explosions targeting multiple locations, killing at least 129 people and injuring more than 300.

The Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP, Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, invited church leaders, among them Moderator, Rev. Myung Hwa Park to attend a Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral on Monday 16 November to remember the victims of those affected by the Paris attacks.

Also in attendance with the Moderator was the Rev. Dr Stephen Robinson who is the Assembly’s National Disaster Recovery Officer.

Joining the Archbishop were the Honourable Mike Baird, Premier of NSW, the French Consul General, Nicolas Croizer, other interfaith leaders and all those who wished to pray and pay their respects to those killed and injured in Paris and also in other terrorist attacks around the world.

The solemn Mass began at 6.30pm at St Mary’s Cathedral on Monday 16 November.
